This fabulous Victorian Sterling Silver Scottish brooch is, Circa 1860.

Scottish jewellery was made popular by Queen Victoria as it became a souvenir of her frequent trips to Scotland and her Scottish Castle Balmoral from the mid 1800s.

Set with plaid Agates around the gallery, and boasting two Amethyst Thistles in the centre.

Agate is a strong mineral sometimes known as the earth rainbow for it’s patterned texture that shows varying colours the earth can produce.

Each plaid Agate is unique with beautiful natural colouring and polished to perfection.

The Thistle is the national flower of Scotland and has been a symbol of strength, protection and unity within the country throughout history.

Hallmarked Sterling Silver on the reverse.

Beautiful all round workmanship can be seen on this brooch.

It weighs 10.5 grams.

The brooch measures 50mm across x 40mm down.
